The computer show has begun

Have you ever heard about Reality Art?

Have you ever heard about Reality Art?

Well, this is reality art. It flows like a river. You cannot capture and exhibit it as an artwork.

If one shows these videos —by Titanic Sinclair, Mars Argo, Poppy, etc.— in a museum and point to them as art, that would be a misleading gesture because what the museum curator would then be doing in pronouncing such words would be naming dead masks, art. What really matters in reality art is what Alfred Gell called, agency, that is, the living process and purpose that feed the making of beautiful and meaningful things.

Forms follow agency. Form follows time. Form follows life. Form follows love.

Take this post as a random thought and a love declaration to all the artists I invited to The New Art Fest '16. Let's make a great opening party on November 3.

Thank you.

Cheer up Argo

Remember these names:

Titanic Sinclair, Mars Argo, that argo, Poppy, and that Poppy

We @ The New Art fest '16, Lisbon and the World Wide Web, have already compiled an anthology of Sinclair's best work on the YouTube. Do you want to know my links?

Wait for November 3-10

Who is Mars Argo?

Do you know Mars Argo? I invited Titanic Sinclair to join the party, and he said yes. At such short notice, though, he will come to Lisbon only as a dematerialized persona.

Titanic Sinclair might be seen as a post-contemporary young Andy Warhol from California, btw. He is, for now, a YouTube/Twitter/Instagram creature. But aren't we all?

44 artists confirmed

The New Art Fest '16

I had some hard time to reach Titanic Sinclair. When I finally did and addressed him an invitation he replied on the spot with a simple word: yes. No strings attached.

All the 44 confirmed artists that will show @ The New Art Fest ’16 are warmly welcome.
This is the first edition of a non-conventional art show. Luisa Moreira and Teresa Boieiro asked me for an idea to do an art exhibition. I replied: why not begin with window stores?

And then we went trough all available but not so often used interfaces to show serious art and have fun with it: street billboards (those small ones sometimes called ‘smart signage’), social networks like Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, and YouTube, last but not least, a natural and science museum, and the world tech convention Web Summit, which coincides in Lisbon with The New Art Fest ’16. Next year we should also jump to Gin bars, alternative art spaces, suburban trains, subways, trams, lifts, and funiculars. There’s plenty of space in Lisbon for art agency!

We took the decision to go forward in a very precarious financial situation. Almost no sponsors, but a few good friends and a healthy collaboration spirit. We thank you all for your generosity.

Now we just have to match all the deadlines!
